 With the dry weather I wasn't sure what the flowers on Shrine Pass would look like. Pam and I headed out about 3pm from our Evergreen Home. The pass is about a 2 hour drive. Arriving at the pass we found a nice selection of wildflowers. The Indian Paintbrush were plentiful and made some nice images. We didn't have to do much hiking, everything was near the road.

Guanella Pass is about one hour away from my home. I wanted to see what kind of wildflowers were up there. Pam and I went there twice, once in the morning and again late afternoon. I did not find any fields of flowers, but small groups or individual plants could be found easily. We even saw a moose!

If your not into flowers you could always go hiking with about a hundred of your newest friends. Check out the last photo, it was shot on a Friday morning at 7:30 am.

Colorado - Day Tripper 6 - Golden Gate Canyon State Park.

This State Park is only one hour from my home. Wildflowers were the reason for this trip. With my cancer I can't go on very long hikes. So most of these shots are within a 100 yards from my car. I didn't see many fields of flowers but found real nice individual flowers. I used my macro most of the time, doing flower portraits. The light was real nice. My wife Pam was my driver as we discovered Golden Gate State Park.

 On my way back from Ridgeway Co, I stopped at Shrine Pass in the early morning. I had been here before but this time the Indian Paintbrush was the wildflower of choice. This area has one of the largest collection of paintbrushes in the state. Early morning light made nice dark shadows to use as your background in photos. Avoid crowds by going up in the early morning or late afternoon.
