Evergreen, Colorado, Spring Snow Storm.

"X Shot" information.
Camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark II
ISO - 400
Shutter - 1/250 sec.
F/stop - 22
Lens - 16/35 mm zoom.

Challenge.
I had been wanting to get some shots at Evergreen Lake, with snow on the ground but the lake not frozen, for some time now. Most of the time, when there is snow, the lake is ice. Last Monday we had the spring snow storm I need, snow and a watery lake.

Solution.
Heading to the lake, I knew I wanted a glassy lake, for reflection, but wouldn't know until arriving at my destination. Everything was pretty nice and my shoot went well. A f/stop of 22 was used to make sure everything in my image was sharp.

Evergreen Lake, Colorado.

"X Shot" information.
ISO - 200.
Camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
Shutter - 1/500 sec.
F/stop - 11
Lens - 70/200 zoom.

LOCATION.
1. Evergreen lake is about 10 minutes south on the Evergreen Parkway, off I-70.
2. People are now ice fishing on the lake.
3. Here the ice skating area is being plowed off for opening day.
4. Usually opens for skating sometime in December, weather permitting.

CHALLENGE.
Get in my Jeep and start driving around looking for feature photos for the "X Shot".

SOLUTION.
I came upon a nice situation pretty quick. At Evergreen Lake, a crew worked on clearing snow off  that part of the lake used for ice skating. It was a to cold and windy day for a hike but I had to  get some elevation to show the patterns carved on the ice. I went light, carrying two cameras with a couple of lenses. The hike did the trick, I was able get some nice images.
