Colorado - Calhan Wind Farm - Beauty on the Rolling Hills.

"X Shot" information.
Camera - Canon EOS 5D MarkII
ISO - 2000
Shutter - 1/40 seconds
F/stop - 5.6
Lens - EF70/200 zoom

While in Calhan to photograph Paint Mines, I discovered a wind farm had been built in the area. Even though I didn't like the ones surrounding the mines, the rest off them are very stunning. Their like trees growing in the emptiness. At dusk, each one has a red light that comes on, that adds to the beauty.

Colorado - Paint Mines Interpretive Park, Calhan.

The Paint Mines Interpretive Park, in Calhan, is a very unique location. I had been there once before and wanted to check it out again. I remembered the beautiful colors but not the wind farm surrounding it. Now, I have nothing against wind energy but I do draw the line when they are built around such a fantastic location. It's still worth the visit and by using a low angle, you can get those towers out of the background, most of the time. The light is good in the morning and evening, showing off  each side of the canyon. I was there on a 80 degree day, mid February, by myself!

Colorado - A quick drive on Squaw Pass gets a couple of keepers.

"X Shot" information.
Camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark II
ISO - 125
Shutter - 1/250 sec.
F/stop - 8
Lens - 70/200 f/2.8 zoom

Living in the foothills, west of Denver, gives me the opportunity to go out on quick little photo shoots.  This trip was to Squaw Pass, about 10 minutes from my Evergreen home.  There was only about half an hour of good light but the results were real nice.
