CHALLENGE.
Last weeks blog was a spring snow storm, that was supposed to be big but didn't turn out that way. I mentioned that another big storm was do this week and it did happen, 14 inches of snow. The morning the weather cleared, a email informed me that my new computer was coming on this day and I had to be here to sign for it. This was the day I set aside for this blog, now what.

SOLUTION.
I live at 8,400 feet, so there was plenty of snow at my house. My blog would be what kind of snow shots could be found at this location. I went out to shoot a number of times during the day and wouldn't come back in until at least one nice shot was recorded. This made me look close and observe everything. My "X Shot" happened in the afternoon when I noticed the snow in the basketball hoop. It was interesting to see the number of nice shots recorded that day, my computer showed up around 4:30 pm.

CHALLENGE.
Last week a big snow storm was predicated for the foothills, west of Denver. That would be my next blog. The big storm turned out to be only about 4 inches of snow and now I had to look hard for good photos.

SOLUTION.
The first thing I noticed was the snow was wet and it pilled up nicely on the trees and their branches. This is what I would look for as I made my way east. Pulling into Lair of the Bear open space, you could see the snow covered trees. Hiking around I found a tree with a lot of branches in the horizontal position. I had the blue sky to work with but wanted more color, if possible. In one direction, leafless bushes, but still with color, could be lined up in the background. Using a very wide angle lens and a large depth-of-field ( everything in focus), this image was created. Another big storm is predicted, next three days. Will see, could be next weeks blog.

Easter, Children Photos, Colorado.

"X Shot" information.
Camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark II
ISO - 100
Shutter - 1/125 sec.
F/stop - 5.6
Lens - 70/200 zoom

Every year, one of my daughters has everyone over for Easter dinner. If the weather is nice, she has an Easter Egg hunt in the back yard. I found that the best way to photograph this is, for the most part, find a place to sit down, have my 70-200 zoom ready and shoot from there, not chasing the children around
the yard.  Just by keeping my eyes open and being ready to shoot, I was able to get a nice moment for this week's "X Shot" We where also informed, by a blue cake, that the sex of a grandchild due in September would be a boy!
