Ken Papaleo: X Marks the Shot: Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Colorado.

Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Colorado.

"X Shot" information.
Camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark II
ISO - 500
Shutter - 1/2000 sec.
F/stop - 4.5
Lens - 500 mm
Mono pod used in this shot.

LOCATION.
1. Rocky Mountain National Park.
2. Drive time from Denver about 3 hours, depending on traffic.
3. Lodging in Estes Park.

THE CHALLENGE.
Upon arriving at the park I noticed a couple of things. First there wan't much snow on the mountains and there was a lot of red trees, from beetle kill. The real eye catching overview scenic images weren't going to happen.

THE SOLUTION.
The aspens were blooming with brilliant light green leaves and the wildlife were plenty, so they were going to be my main targets. If I did a mountain view it would have to be before sunrise or after sunset, making the mountains a silhouette, hopefully with a great sky.
