Ken Papaleo: X Marks the Shot: September 2016

Colorado - Steamboat Springs - Buffalo Pass Fall Colors.

"X Shot" information.
Camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark II
ISO - 100
Shutter Speed -  1/250 sec
F/stop - 8
Lens - Canon 70/200 zoom

This is the fourth blog from my recent shoot at Steamboat Springs, this time, Buffalo Pass. This area had the best color. The road from the Steamboat side is pretty easy to drive. What caught my eye were the four bright colors lined up. I thought this place photographed the best in the late afternoon to sunset.

NOTE- This will be my last blog for awhile. I have rotator-cuff surgery tomorrow. I'm told rehab is 3 to 4 months. Not sure when I can start photographing again. Until that time I will run flashbacks of picture and blogs. I enjoy showing the beauty of Colorado that not everybody gets to see and hope that those off you who follow this blog will continue to do so. Thanks, Ken

Colorado - Steamboat Springs - Hans Peak and Surrounding Areas.

Shutter Speed - 1/250 sec.

Lens - 70/200 zoom

This is the third blog from the Steamboat Springs area, Hans Peak and its surrounding area. Not much to say about shooting this shot. I did set my exposure for the highlights of the aspens. One thing I did do is not change my mind about going to Steamboat, after I say the weather report. Bad weather can lead to nice photos. Nothing wrong with that dark cloudy sky.

This is the second blog from my recent fall color shoot in the Steamboat area. I arrived at the lake before sunrise. Not being there before I didn't know what to expect. Once the sun was fully up, the fall colors showed up. That's when the "X Shot" took place. The only thing I had to do was get the correct exposure for the bright aspens, everything else fell into place.

Colorado - Steamboat Springs moose photos

While on a fall photo shoot in the Steamboat Springs area I came across this moose. I used a 500 mm lens and a 70/200 zoom to capture these photos. The fall colors were really great and will appear in my next blog.

Colorado - Fall Starts in the Foothills west of Denver.

"X Shot" information.
Camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark II
ISO - 400
Shutter - 1/500 sec.
F/stop - 16
Lens - 70/200 zoom

The beginning off fall has started in the foothills west of Denver. My route took me from Evergreen, through Squaw Pass, down to Idaho Springs and ending at the top of Guanella Pass, in Georgetown. These areas should be pretty nice by the last week in September. I'm heading out to Steamboat Springs for three days, the colors up there should be pretty nice by now.

Colorado - Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs.

"X Shot" information.
Camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark II
ISO - 200
Shutter - 1/250 sec.
F/stop - 16
Lens - 70/200 mm 2.8 zoom

Over the summer months I have been going to locations that I usually shoot in the fall or winter months, Garden of the Gods is the last in this series.  I went there on a clear sky-blue day and not much haze.  Even though it's not very big, it offered big results. The only problem is it gets packed out with cars and parking becomes a big problem. My "X Shot came as the sun was setting in the west. The rocks glowed bright red and stood out real nice from the blue sky.
