Having a note-card client in the Republic Plaza on the 16th Street Mall, I set out to shoot some pictures of their building and other area photos that might be a good card candidates. Ever since 9/11, building security has increased immensely and they prefer that you don't take pictures of their buildings. They can stop you on their private property but if you're on the sidewalk, street or other public property, you can shoot away. While checking out a location south of the Republic Plaza I found my "X-Shot". Seeing that the Plaza glowed in the sun while the Denver Art museum was almost all in shadows, I decided to use the museum to frame my subject. Taking a reading from the glowing Republic Plaza and then using the same reading with a wide-angle lens gave me the mood I was looking for. Even though the plaza is small, it still stands out in the picture.
